Save the Earth, Stop Global Warming

Greenhouses are built for better plant growth and cultivation wherein a special type of glass or plastic is used in building the structure. The panels serve as selective transmission channels for various spectrum frequencies. These traps the heat necessary for optimum nurturance of plants being grown within. This farming practice is ideal. If this is the case, why do we prevent the greenhouse effect?  

Greenhouse gases are essential to life but its continuous increase in concentration results to a marked rise in Earth’s surface temperature. The ideal when in excess creates a problem. Global warming is now an indomitable enemy. Changes in climate affect people, animals, and plants.

Observed effects of this phenomenon include a rise in sea levels, softening of glaciers, alterations in plant distribution and range, melting of permafrost, and a lot more. Growing seasons have become longer, trees bloom earlier than normal, river and lake ice takes more time to freeze more prone to shatter. Human health is also affected by the extreme heat and cold periods. Calamities and climate sensitive diseases have also plagued mankind.  

Role of Man

Ever since industrial revolution started, man played a significant role in global warming. Destructive practices of man add to the amount of heat being trapped in the atmosphere. These mainly come from several economic sectors including agriculture, forestry, land use, and waste management. Industrial processes such as aluminum, steel, and cement production. Burning of fossil fuels by factories, cars, and power plants produces harmful gases such as aerosols that attract and emit heat, and reflect light. Build-up of these chemicals changed the atmosphere’s composition. These alterations significantly influence most of the detrimental occurrences in the Earth’s surface.

Greenhouse gases’ concentration is predicted to escalate in the years to come. As a natural consequence, global warming with all its effects will prevail. This thought is terrifying. However, we can still do something to prevent the progression. Greenhouse gases’ emission may be decreased through simple measures.

In our homes, use of ecology friendly light bulbs and avail of green power, clean air filter regularly, and abide to its annual tune-up schedule, seal and insulate your home, use water efficiently, and recycle.
