White House Finally Issues a Climate Report

Last May 29, the White House, under a court order and 4 years delayed, produced a 271-page comprehensive document about the specific threats manmade global warming has brought to the United States.

The climate report includes increased heat deaths; worsening water shortages; more casualty and damage caused by wildfires, hurricanes, and other natural calamities; a demand for billions of dollars to build more power plants (one main source of global warming gases) for cooling a hotter country; increased insect plague; and more food-borne and waterborne diseases. Moreover, many of the anticipated health effects are likely to affect the poor, elderly, disabled, and the uninsured.

This report was required long before by a 1990 law which states that the government must produce a comprehensive science evaluation of global warming; however, it had not been made since 2000. Why did they wait that long? Maybe if we hadn’t laugh at Al Gore when he told us about global warming then probably we wouldn’t end up in this situation.
